Offshore Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is home to many big game fish such as pacific sailfish, dorado (mahi mahi), black and blue marlin, wahoo and yellowfin tuna. Inshore species such as roosterfish, grouper, snapper, Spanish mackerel and yellowtail jacks are also available throughout the year.

We have a boat available for charter on site. The Suerte Ruby is a 31' Custom Cruiser equipped with twin 350 Chevy engines and can cruise at 20 knots. The Suerte Ruby is also equipped with a bait well, fish finder, VHF radio, outriggers and downriggers, 1 fighting chair, and fighting belts. The boat also has a salon area and an enclosed marine head. The Suerte Ruby is equipped with Penn International 12TW's, 30TW's and 50TW's. Captain Vito Lara has more than 10 years experience, and he offers the Suerte Ruby for both offshore and inshore fishing. The Suerte Ruby charters for $350 per day.

The photos below are from our archives and will give you an idea of the size and variety of fish it is possible to catch here. "Catch and release" fishing is now practiced by the sportfishing captains in Zihuatanejo to help maintain the billfish population in the area.
